HISTORY

The city was founded as a capital by “Raja Karam Prakash” in 1621. The Beautiful town Nahan has not been a place that has been frequently Praised by many Tourists. The reason behind this is the Hospitality ,its heritage, beauty and culture have all been miscalculated by most. The small town has a small population and is going to become one of the most charmful destinations. The landscapes, the temples and the natural parks there are a growing attraction for a lot of tourists.Nahan, however, is an underdog that has created for itself a unique position in Himachal’s tourist destinations.The city has been the home of princes & saints dating, some dating as early as 1621.There is an interesting thing behind the naming of this Beautiful city that is "when a king was trying to kill a lion and saint “Baba Banwari Das” said “Nahar” – single word for “Don’t kill it!” Nahan Palace also derived its name from "Nahar", a companion who lived with the saint. 
Tourist Attractions in Nahan

> The various tourist attractions in Nahan are Rani -Tal,Villa-Round, Suketi Fossil Park, Trilokpur Temple, Dhaula Kuan and Giri Nagar.

Rani Tal
The heart of "Nahan" town is "Rani Tal"-A Beautiful Garden, where a large temple and a tank from the days of ex-rulers of Sirmaur State can be seen. Ducks and Cranes are seen playing in the Ranital Tank, and Ranital Garden adds the bewitchery charmness in the city.
Villa-Round

Villa Round turns up with its unique Natural Environment which attracts visitors.It is Basically a Jogging area in nahan.If you want to get fit, boost your energy levels and improve your mood then must visit that Beautiful Place.
Suketi Fossil Park
The Suketi Fossil Park is located at a distance of 21 kms. From Nahan, on the bank of Markanda river and is approachable by a link road 4 kms. Suketi Fossil Park displays life size fiberglass model of pre-historic animals whose fossil, skeletons were unearthed here. The park is first of its kind in Asia to be developed at the actual site where fossils were discovered. Located on upper and middle Shiwaliks, consisting mainly of soft sandstone and clay rocks, the park at present has six sets of life-size models of Stegodonganesa (extinct grand elephant) Sivatherium, Hexaprotodon-Sivalensis (hippopotamus with six incisors), Colosschelys Atlas (giant land tortoise and chelonia), Paramachaerdus (Sabre Toothed tiger) and Crocodilia the animals which once thrived in the region .
Trilokpur Temple
Shri Mahamaya Balasundari Jee Temple is situated about 6 kilometers from Kala Amb in hills of Himachal Pradesh at Village Trilokpur Tehsil Nahan, District Sirmour. It is a center of devotion for lakhs of pilgrims visiting from all over  Northern India. It is firmly believed that due to blessings of Mata Balasundari Jee , every ambition of devotees is fulfilled. It is such a divine place where sins get vanished by just paying obeisance at Divine Pindi of Mata Balasundari Jee.
